Sounds like there is nothing left TO do, since you've tried everything already and nothing has worked. You could try a chew jewelry item called "Chewelry" which is specifically designed for adults with dementia/ Alzheimers who have the desire to chew, and do so to their detriment. Here is a link to various types:

I don't know if it would help, but she may enjoy chewing the Chewelry and stop chewing on her poor fingers. You can order it in various 'toughness' strengths depending on how strong her teeth are/on how hard she bites.

I hate dementia with every ounce of my being, and to watch your mom going through such a thing must be awful. I'm sorry you are in such a position, and your mom as well. Sending you a hug and a prayer for strength during this difficult transition time.

It is amazing the things you know, Lealonnie! My partner's daughter is on the autism spectrum and might find Chewellry helpful. I'll share with him and her mum. Thank you for sharing. We never would have dreamed something like this existed.

Fingers, if the meds they prescribed aren't working, they need to try something else.

Has any medication been tried?

I would get her to a geriatric neurologist or psychiatrist.
